Core Team
Devin DeCiantis (President and Executive Producer)
Devin founded Freedom24 Productions in 2003 as a small independent production company based in Cambridge, MA and Toronto, Canada. Freedom24 is currently developing and producing 4GW – a feature-length film – and exploring multiple transmedia opportunities.
Devin is also a consultant with experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, journalism, digital media and social enterprise. He has worked with private and public sector thought-leaders throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He received a Master’s from Harvard in economics and international security and a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University. He has written two feature length scripts including early drafts of 4GW.
Felix Gelt (Executive Vice President)
Felix is a freelance management consultant on a variety of business development, strategic, operational, supply chain, IT, and financial topics. Mr. Gelt has advised over 45 clients across an array of industries (including in venture capital, gaming, telecom, IT, and consumer goods) within the private and public sector in Canada, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Tanzania, and the United States. Felix has also worked with BearingPoint, Grant Thornton, and Arthur Andersen, held leadership roles at 3 start-up organizations, and served in a senior management role with The Topps Company. Mr. Gelt received his Bachelor of Commerce in Management Information Systems and Finance from the University of British Columbia where he graduated as an Academic All Canadian Varsity Soccer Athlete.
Sara Basso (Director of Production)
Sara is a producer at Real Image, an global production company, where she is currently producing two documentaries and a children’s animated series. Prior to working for Real Image, she worked on several productions as a Producer and Creative Director, including The Living Doll Project, a new mutli-media project with photographer Caitlin Cronenberg; and Pooka (2009), a short film directed by Maurey Loeffler, which recently won Best Dramatic Short Film at the Yorkton Film Festival.
Shamir Allibhai (Director of Strategic Partnerships)
Shamir is a media entrepreneur with a diverse professional and academic background. Shamir produced and co-directed the documentary An Islamic Conscience: the Aga Khan and the Ismailis. He was also part of the founding team and Commercial Director of the Channel 4 British Documentary Film Foundation, a grant-giving organization for feature documentary directors; the Commercial Director of Shooting People — the largest online filmmakers’ network; and a Marketing Executive at the BBC. As a producer, he has worked with the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the Aga Khan Development Network.
Issa Dababneh (Art Director)
Issa is currently Principal and Lead Creative of Scope Media, a graphic communications studio based in Toronto, Canada. Over the past decade, Issa has provided design solutions for the largest names in the Canadian entertainment and financial industries. His most recent work includes publication design for major non-profit organizations servicing the country’s retail industry.
In his spare time, Issa can be found identifying typefaces visible at remote base camps around the world.
Michael Ward (Director of Funding)
Michael is a medical doctor and academic scientist, primarily working at the University of Toronto. Through his involvement in various NGOs and academic committees, Michael has vast experience in leadership as well as private and public sector fundraising. Dr. Ward’s community outreach and project management make him an asset to the 4GW team. He also is a strong supporter of the film community, having participated in productions and film festivals locally and internationally.
